🚨BREAKING: Puerto Rico has been part of the United States since 1898, and people still act confused that Puerto Ricans are American.

States that joined after Puerto Rico:
• Oklahoma — 1907
• New Mexico — 1912
• Arizona — 1912
• Alaska — 1959
• Hawaii — 1959

Yet somehow this is still news to folks.

Yes!!
“But I didn’t understand a word he said.” Guess what, that’s the experience of many immigrants when they arrive in a new country, including the United States. You get humbled. Then you work hard and start understanding. We could all use that experience

Not sustainable = out of control
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

The media (and everyone else) need to stop referring to ICE as "law enforcement".

They are out to perform "ethnic cleansing" and to terrorize the population.

There is nothing "lawful" about it.

My heart breaks for Minnesotan and for the family of Renee Good. The violent tactics MUST stop. NOW.

Members of Congress: stop posting online and APPEAR, PHYSICALLY on the steps of the Capitol to decry this unconstitutional violation of domestic & international law. SHOW THE PEOPLE the level of danger we are facing as a country.

What the United States did in Venezuela is prohibited under international law, which bars the use of force as an instrument of national policy.

Fantastic news! Way to go #Baltimore!! These methods work.
Baltimore Mayor: “Gun violence is a public health issue — we’re showing how to reduce violence the right way.”

Yes!!
I say his gently, but…

There’s something unspeakably shameful The United States letting people go hungry.

Not because its government doesn’t fix it —

but because tomorrow a few private Americans could, and never notice the cost.

That’s the part that sits wrong.

Enough is enough IS ENOUGH. Our country MUST do better. Call your reps: 202-224-3121 (Capitol Hill switchboard)
on this day in 2012, 20 children and 6 adults are killed in mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. And with the awful shooting at Brown University yesterday, we still haven't done anything on meaningful national gun laws. Enough is enough.

It’s not enough to simply thank our veterans for their service.

Millions of them rely on SNAP and the ACA.

Many struggle with PTSD and worry about access to mental health services.

Today, on Veterans Day, let’s renew our commitment to keep fighting for those who fought for us.

People who need food ARE NOT lazy. They are working hard every day to stay alive. If they have a minimum wage job, or even two jobs, the math just doesn’t work right. Check the MIT Living Wage calculator and see how much money you need to live in your town. livingwage.mit.edu

Truth
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
