Since there are lots of new people on Bluesky, here's a reintroduction :

Low Orbit Tourist, since 2016 I'm looking for cool satellite imagery on Google Earth, both natural and human altered/made. All of them are available in 4K/HD

THE CLEAREST VIEW OF THE EGG NEBULA FROM HUBBLE JUST DROPPED!!!
In the image center, an opaque oval cloud of gray gas aligned from 1 o\u2019clock to 7 o\u2019clock hides a star. Two strong beams of light from the star emerge from large holes in both sides of the cloud, forming narrow cones extending toward 10 o\u2019clock and 4 o\u2019clock. The central cloud is surrounded by concentric, wispy shells of gas illuminated by the star\u2019s light. The shells reflect extra light where they\u2019re hit by the twin beams. A crowd of smaller stars with cross-shaped spikes over them surrounds the nebula on a black background.

Hier pour préparer ce spot je faisais mon tour habituel sur Google Maps et j'ai remarqué qu'il y avait pas mal de villages couverts par StreetView au Groenland, apparemment à l'initiative de leur bureau du tourisme. Les paysages sont beaux, ça fait voyager :

A beautiful but skewed spiral galaxy in this NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image. The galaxy, called Arp 184 or NGC 1961, sits about 190 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Camelopardalis (the Giraffe).

NGC2335, the Seagull nebula, another ongoing project I’ve been working on for about three weeks. In this case as well, this image was obtained by capturing the radiation emitted in the ionized hydrogen spectrum and partly in oxygen, with about 15 hours of integration time. >>>
