but soviets were the best way to introduce people to direct democracy and let them decide for themselves their path forward. for example make efforts towards collectivization on a popular and voluntary basis

but it was forced onto people which led to unneccessary bloodshed and the growth of anti-soviet sentiment. you can also remember soviets which were stripped of their power almost immediately in favour of centralization which was not popular with the workers

you have to understand that work doesn't end with the revolution. you have the building period afterwards which is the hardest part. and this is exactly where most conflicts of ideas and interests happen. as an example you can use collectivization in the ussr. good thing? absolutely
