TWO DAYS left to respond to the UK Govt consultation on Copyright and AI. The AOI has created a brilliant guide to help with this - the consultation is onerous but their tips make completing it quick and easy for any creator, not just an illustrator. The Government is considering allowing AI companies to freely use your works, unless you opt-out. This is unfair and unworkable.

Now is your chance to tell them what you think! Submit a response to their AI consultation using the guidance below.

Ok, so once I had an office job that didn’t keep me very busy - this was in the days before smart phones. When I had nothing to do but had to look busy, I’d pull up Project Gutenberg and read. I found and read so many fantastic books. It’s a brilliant site
Does everyone know about Project Gutenberg? E-books for free. The world’s great literature here, with focus on older works for free. Digitized and diligently proofread by thousands of volunteers.

Please share.

Norfolk and Suffolk teachers I am downsizing my enormous 30 year collection of children’s books. Would any schools be interested in hosting me for a pop up £2 a book sale? @jonnybid.bsky.social

⚠️ Pontypridd has been hit by devastating floods and our wonderful independent bookshop, Storyville Books, has seen much of its stock destroyed.

If you’re able to buy a book from them, this would go such a long way to help support them rebuild in the aftermath.

My map of children's independent bookshops is updated regularly. Most provide an online service and they're all run by people who can make well-informed book recommendations. Make sure you support your local one if you want to keep it. Any missing, please let me know. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...
