I'm loving this evening's #SceptreSalon25, packed with exciting books for the year ahead but also brilliant for programming a simple livestream for booksellers outside of London to watch too.

SHOW ME WHERE IT HURTS, the debut novel by @cmgleeson.bsky.social is coming in April - from the first word to the last, this is such an accomplished & exquisitely sensitively-handled story of how a woman rebuilds her life after the most horrific of tragedies. Moving, devastating & ultimately hopeful

This is superb: multiple POVs in musical prose, moving, grim, funny... on inequality, hope, and how class impacts women's lives. Deftly deals with sexual assault (bleak reading it alongside McGr**g*r's court case). Brilliant work @wednesdayerskin.bsky.social. Out next June, @sceptrebooks.bsky.social

I always get a kick when a reviewer manages to distil a book so skilfully. This is brilliant by Rachel Seiffert on The Land in Winter by "the master of nuance, expert at exploring the various chambers of the human heart", Andrew Miller:

Set during the Big Freeze of 1962-3, this story of two marriages brilliantly evokes the legacy of the second world war
