Consumer of croissants, iced coffee, and books. Writer of ‘stuff’
After talking to my partner about my current WIP (something I rarely do in the early stages) I think, thanks to his input, I’ve managed to solve a lot of what wasn’t working

I've seen people say that getting attached to ChatGPT is like "believing the stripper really loves you", but that's not true. It's more like believing that the dryer personally composed that little jingle on a lonely sockless night just to win your affections.

Now onto another trilogy (that again I started a very long time ago). I am extremely excited to reread The Passage by Justin Cronin and hope it’s as amazing as I remember

Delighted to have finally finished reading a trilogy I initially embarked upon nearly twenty years ago.

Yeah, s*x is cool, but have you heard the sound a page in a book makes when you turn it? 🫦

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 33788:
Don't front-load your work with unnecessary backstory and intricate worldbuilding. Give your readers only as much as they need to engage with the plot and characters, and let them discover the rest as and when they need it...

I am forcing myself to go to my writers’ group this evening. While I want to cosy up indoors with a book, I know an evening with fellow writers will probably do my mood (and motivation) a lot of good

I’m still struggling with my current small town WIP. The tone just isn’t what I’m aiming for and it all feels, well, bad mostly.
Current strategy is to power through, get the bones of it written, then take it from there.

Personally, I think the world would be a better place if a four day working week was the default.

Things I am grateful for today:

1. Croissants and iced coffee
2. Random ‘helloooo’ messages from my mum that precede her phoning
3. Apple weather telling me the rain will end in 13 minutes
4. Reading in Greenwich Park
5. The optimism of a dog leaving its ball next to you

1. My partner making eggs royale for breakfast
2. Giving in to the need for a nap
3. Getting outside even though it’s grim

I think I’ve been watching too much Gilmore Girls. My current WIP (a short story) is sounding very Stars Hollow. This is not at all the creepy atmosphere of dread I was going for

The sun is out! It’s cold but the sun is out. The amount my mood is dictated by the weather is a little concerning. Especially given I live in England.
In other news, I’m powering through Citadel by Kate Mosse.

Oh dear, it’s time for my annual quandary: is this bad PMS or SAD?

Besides the obvious unpleasantness, I hate how this impacts my writing. In the meantime I shall be sustained by books and Gilmore Girls

Sending much love to anyone else feeling similarly glum xx
