As we enter the unknowns of 2025, I turn to this song from The Killers. I would be lying if I didn't say I was terrified about the next four years & how damaging it will be. As I swore in the oath, I will stand against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Picked up a paper copy of @jasonkander.bsky.social most recent book and it's my next on deck. One of my prized possessions is a copy of "Outside the Wire" that Mr. Kander had me send to him so he could sign while I was stationed in Alaska.

Starting around this time last year (don't want to dig to pinpoint it), I started to navigate a year of situations that no one should ever have to go through on multiple fronts, but I survived. It has been a sad, fucked-up chapter of the book of my life, but it is far from overeven through the pain.

I desperately wish I didn't need them, but I am so glad to have found this group and to have found solace in them as I grieve the death of my son.

Well, when someone shows they are trash by the organization (ArmyWTF) they are involved with, believe it. Pretty damn disgusting to make fun of a journalist for getting murdered in their own home because the journalist had the gall to say crime isn't as bad as it seems in their home city.

It's absolutely clear that we have a systemic issue within the Coast Guard and things need to happen, including holding those responsible for these horrible acts as well as those who helped cover it up such as the past Commandant and Vice Commandant. So damn disgraceful.

Appreciate any good thoughts, prayers, or vibes right now for my family. Got absolutely awful news about a close family members health and we could use any positivity we can get. I'm really struggling to stay positive or okay right now.
