Today in LinkedIn: A Play in Three Acts

I. Open LinkedIn.

II. Read a post that says, in short, “Sure, my constant AI-equipped video monitoring of students to determine their attention at scale might be used for surveillance, but what if my version of the system is different?”

III. Close LinkedIn.

Bowie made me go out and do an opening forty-five minute act for him every night with my own material. I remember the first night I went on stage and did my thing. Some of the people, it was scattered, were shouting "Bowie, Bowie." (1/2)

A little trio of three related sketches for the New Year.

Found papers, wax, foil, acrylic, and an element from the ADDITIONS deck, a project from @morphicrooms.bsky.social

Understandable spirit.

Happy to get back to posting on Multichannel again. I'm sharing examples of split screen in various media and other projects that foreground the use of multiple audiovisual layers. Thanks to filmmaker Julie Talen for the term "multichannel" to describe such works.
Grand Prix (1966)

Directed by John Frankenheimer. Title designer Saul Bass was credited as visual consultant, montages and titles. He made extensive use of multiple split screens.

It sounded like Lego Smart Play would be fun to play with as a dev tool - Mindstorms but all in one small brick of built-in sensors that can network with each other - but it also seems the company will lock it down hard and use it mostly for branded products. Too bad.

I'd been asking my dad for a while for a "pretty" piece of scrap wood to replace it--I was imagining a piece of offcut from one of his beautiful handmade cutting boards.

On Christmas morning, he told me he didn't have any pretty scraps lately, so he just... made this for me. Incredible!

Sad to hear. My son and I picked up Hiding Dinosaurs at our first MICE, his very first signed book and one that we read many times together before bedtime. Rest in peace.
