I'm a Toronto-based art photographer and wordsmith. I love to travel to make my art, but I don't always have to go far to find subject matter. I watch for the quiet moments, always on the lookout for a little mystery in the mundane. I'm also on Instagram as @focalocity.
Sigh. Better late than never; I was inside, watching my team lose last night's baseball game LOL. #inside #BlueSkyArtShow

Super proud of our #TorontoBlueJays. It all comes down to 1 game, sending all the positive energies. #letsplayball Great sportsmanship, love the energy on both teams. Shout out to the tremendous tech skills on the field & in studio. So impressed with Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez calling the games.

I won't add my tourism dollars, I won't even fly through 'Murica, and I'm doing my #elbowsup best to #BuyCanadian. But for today's mass #NoKings protest, sending my moral support. Above all, remain #peaceful. They want to scare you into violence. Don't let them. Stay safe. #saynotofascism

The Malahat Skywalk spiral tower near Victoria, BC. Get #vertical above the tree line for a spectacular view of the Saanich Peninsula. If you're brave enough, lie down on that net platform with nothing between you and the ground except that net. #BlueSkyArtShow #architecture #thrills #photography

It's #salmon season in #Toronto! Yup, you can actually see salmon spawning upstream in the middle of an urban centre. It's always so cool to witness. Tagging it #FishyFriday (not quite #FlyDay, unless you're the one doing the fishing!!!) in the #PhotographersofBluesky #DailyArt.

Saturday morning. #BlueSkyArtShow says take time to #relax today. The #morninglight in #deathvalley will always clear some space in your mind. #landscape #photography. Thank you to the thousands of #altgov and @altnps.bsky.social folks taking risks to protect. This is for you. #staysafe

In all the chaos, I would urge folks to remember that a lot of folks now don’t know when their next check will come.

The vast majority are good people who love this nation deeply, and many of them are still working despite not knowing when they’ll be paid

Have compassion.

A tribute to mark the passing of the very great and gracious Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE. Thank you for generously sharing your life's knowledge with us. (A Geoffroy's Tamarin, perched in a Cecropia tree, aka trumpet tree, taken in Panama.) #wildlife #photography #primates #monkeys

All around me the noise is fierce, on so many fronts. Tonight is the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. It's in my DNA to find myself mentally closing the door on the noise, making time for quiet reflection. I wish friends a sweet and healthy year. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me.

#BlueSkyArtShow #Home - it's hard to imagine that there are whole generations of children who have never seen the starry brilliance of a night sky because of light pollution. I love #Toronto at night, but part of why I travel is to find dark skies.

Just a typical #stunday view of #Newfoundland. I always look for and welcome these #silentmoments. #photography #Canada

The highly polished side of the train reflected the surrounding desert countryside as we rode through #Kamloops, #Canada. The eerie light from an overcast (wildfire) sky made it seem like the train disappears into the sky. #loriryerson #photography #trains #BlueSkyArtShow #Shiny

The #jagged peaks of the blue berg reflect in the still water at the base of a mountain, it's own jagged peaks poking through dense low cloud cover. #landscape #photography from #Greenland to bring down the heat, for the Saturday #BlueSkyArtShow.

Hard to believe anyone actually gives a shit about places like Gaza or Ukraine, or the homeless anywhere, or the displaced in Texas...when this much food is being thrown the hell out. Beyond disgraceful. Reprehensible.

Outstanding article, accurately portrays our Canadian feelings about this divorce that was thrust upon us. nymag.com/intelligence...

High view over Easter Island (Rapa Nui). There have been some tragically harsh weather conditions this summer. My heart breaks for all those who have lost loved ones, both human & animal, & to those who have seen homes destroyed/swept away, & all the memories & memorabilia that go with them.

Hard news coming out of the North Rim at Grand Canyon. My thought go out to all those affected by the fire that has consumed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge. This is what wildfire smoke looks like from the air. This was a fire in 2019, smoke above Sedona originated 20 miles away. Very sad news.

July 11-13 #TorontoOutdoorArtFair. Think of my Boundaries Reimagined collection as an armful of flowers, a garden of colour. I took 4 square pieces & gathered up that armful for you into a 12x48 piece. Come play in my garden; I'm in the online shop (& my website!) #TOAF #Canadianartist #loriryerson

Saturday on #BlueSkyArtShow = #sideways. Which is apt, given the way the world is heading. Because photography is not always about what you see, but what you feel. And right now, the world feels like it's going sideways.
