As Sisters of Loretto and Co-members of Loretto, we work for justice and act for peace because the Gospel urges us.
Friends from Louisville’s West End Women’s Collaborative were at the Motherhouse in early Feb. and led the Community in a collage craft, later made into a paper #quilt. Might we consider a #collage, rather than a melting pot, as a symbol of Beloved Community, our “more perfect Union?"

In this age when we can feel so powerless, these words of Thomas Berry CP offer us such strong consolation: “We must feel that we are supported by that same process that brought the Earth into being, that power that spun the galaxies into space, that lit the sun and brought the moon into its orbit."

Why do I look at this field and only see dying plants when those same plants are actually bursting with seeds of new life? As another new year begins, may we celebrate fullness of life as a circle which includes both endings and beginnings. #LorettoRetreats #MondayMusings

Carved wood statuette of Mary and the child Jesus in a cylindrical wood case. A handwritten label indicates that it belonged to Father Nerinckx and late was carried by Mother Praxedes Carty in her pocket beginning in 1896. This piece measures a diminutive 2.25" tall. #FridayFind

“Love, loving.” Karl Rahner, Jesuit theologian, named God in this way. Love, loving. Doesn’t that say it all, in both the simplest/most powerful of ways? In this Christmas week, be on the lookout for appearances of Love, loving, especially in the humblest or unlikeliest of places. #MondayMusings

The decaying stump initially provided the grounding needed for the tiny saplings to grow but now it can no longer sustain them. What is the “decaying stump” in my life that once nourished me but can no longer sustain my growth? How is love inviting me to find a new source of grounding? #Advent

The British contemplative writer, Caryll Houselander, compared Mary to a reed or flute through whom the breath of God moved freely. As we begin this Advent season, I find myself asking, “How open am I for the Spirit to move through me?” #LorettoRetreats #MondayMusings

💜This #WorldAIDSDay, we're shining the spotlight on Sister Carmelita Hagan. 💜

She has been ministering to people with AIDS and HIV for over two decades at the House of Mercy.

“They would often ask, ‘Where is God?’ and I would talk with them about God being present wherever.”
