To list a few: (Alexei Navalny, February 2024; Alexander Litvinenko, Boris Berezovsky, Mikhail Lesin, Sergey Magnitsky, Anna Politkovskaya, Natalia Estemirova, Stanislav Markelov, et al). And the U.S. President is now championing his cause.

Putin's opponents and critics have been gunned down on the streets of Moscow in broad daylight (Boris Nemstov, February 2015), poisoned with nerve agents or died otherwise under questionable circumstances.

Putin was president from 2000 - 2008, then president de facto from 2008 - 2012 (as prime minister under Medvedev, who was largely powerless), and regained the presidency in 2012... He has been in power since 2000. Let that sink in.

Hypocrisy at its best. It is ludicrous that Trump is calling Zelensky a dictator while the man he is courting, Putin, has changed the laws in Russia to allow himself to run for president twice more, likely keeping him in power until 2036.

We have one such person at the helm of our country currently; a troubling situation indeed

An intelligent person should not need to shout to get a point across. It is rude. And it is certainly not presidential. It is often indicative of self-obsession, a craving for attention, and emotional imbalance.

Italics can be used for emphasis quite nicely. Why would any intelligent person want to produce a text that looks like it was written by Son of Sam?

Today's pet peeve: The rampant use of all-caps for emphasis.
Using all-caps for emphasis in writing is unprofessional, immature, just poor form, and really not at all necessary; the English language has an abundance of words that can be used for emphasis.
