Paraphrasing something I think I remember @shaunvids.bsky.social saying: "They once made an identity of their hobby, but aren't enjoying it like they used to, so they want to believe it's because somebody's making their hobby worse, not because they themselves changed."
That's what really bothers me, those fashy youtubers do such a disservice to their audiences, and it works because in keeping them angry and feeding them new nontroversies with their outrage content mills, they're keeping them engaged. But it's doing something lamentable to them in the process.
