Raglan’s 2025 - A turbulent 12 months for sure. Dominated by new knee in Feb, followed by retirement in Sept. Not enough wargaming this year, but what I managed felt like good quality, plus as ever, it was awesome to spend time with old and new friends along the way. Cheers to everyone for 2026 🏴🍻

As I get older, I find myself longing for the Christmases we had years ago. We had far less money and a lower standard of living, but none of that seemed to matter, because we had so much more fun.

Spanish Reconquista - Arab Tribesmen of the Jund Provincial Division. The jund were a regional force raised to protect a province. It was structured around the tribesman of settled Arabs or nomadic Bedouin who lived in that province, but could also be bolstered by mercenary troops.

Spanish Reconquista - Yusuf ibn Tashfin’s Almoravid Black Guard. If you have ever watched the 1961 historical epic movie staring Charlton Heston, you would definitely remember these boys. Sinister in appearance, the Black Guard truly set themselves apart from the rest of the army.

Spanish Reconquista - Yusuf ibn Tashfin’s Almoravid Black Guard. If you have ever watched the 1961 historical epic movie staring Charlton Heston, you would definitely remember these boys. Sinister in appearance, the Black Guard truly set themselves apart from the rest of the army.
Spanish Reconquista - Spanish Arqueros. Bowmen were commonplace throughout the Reconquista and the Christian Spanish Lords were known to use their servants as auxiliary archers, usually deployed behind spearmen in the battle line.
