If you’re stressing about keeping up with AI tools or worried they’ll take over the workplace, just remember: there are still many companies out there that won’t even give their developers local admin privileges

Had a new type of tech interview request today.

Share my screen, tackle an ‘unreasonable’ BE/FE coding challenge, and use AI while they watched for an hour to see how far I got.

Interesting idea, but not for me - I politely declined.

Curious if others would have done this?

I've noticed the last couple of years the conversation around AI goes into overdrive in January.

Do non-technicsl decision makers spend their Christmas break reading hot developer takes on social media or something?

At lunch with my wife's family, her uncle turns to me and jokes we can’t relate to old folks talking hip replacements.

I said actually, it’s you talking about your housing ownership we can’t relate to, as that's something our generation is locked out of.

Unless something dramatic happens like a safety car, I don't see anybody except Verstappen winning this #Formula1

A junior dev asking "hey, can we use AI?" feels like the equivalent of a kid asking if you have any games on your phone

So the Action Pack is gone, the other Partner programmes all require a biz to generate revenue for @microsoft to get the benefits. Is there nothing for Consultants that might not generate revenue directly, but steer clients towards MS tech instead? #MSPartner

F1 movie is very entertaining. Topgun with cars. Race sequences were amazing, when do we get to watch the real thing like that??

I think with just about every tech project I have ever worked on, the backend flows along nicely, but the frontend is always this massive emergency that needs to be done now with change requests filying in from every direction

The madness around the #MTGxFINALFANTASY set reminds of the official pop up shop they tried to run in Covent Garden years ago that span wildly out of control. Some agency worker trying to calm the crowd honestly said "we didn't realise how much of a huge deal Final Fantasy is" 😂

Chatting with a bunch of younger engineers, feeling old talking about "master" and "slave" jumper settings and then just looking at me blankly

Early Switch 2 thoughts - hardware is pretty mind blowing, mario kart is good and wind waker on the GameCube app is pretty good too

But, I wouldn't say it's dash out and buy it day 1 like I have done

Rewatching the Jurassic Park / World movies to get read for the new one. Still love them all. Pretty sure Fallen Kingdom is just a Resident Evil movie in disguise

Am I the only one who didn't even realise the Microsoft Build conference was happening right now?

That used to be a yearly event folks met up for to watch and discuss

I did a quick post on the specs of the Nintendo Switch 2 and tried to explain what it all means in a beginner friendly way

TLDR: Nintendo have struck the balance between power and efficiency pretty much perfectly for a portable console releasing in 2025

Must watch Louis Theroux doc aired tonight about Israel settlers in Palestine. Fantastic as usual, presented without spin, and I'm genuinely shocked the BBC aired it. Catch it before it disappears #thesettlers

While looking for paid work, I'm trying out some new tools and IDEs while developing a side project. Really digging @jetbrains.com IntelliJ Idea for my react native dev and PyCharm for python experiments. Makes a nice change from Visual Studio
