When we become activated it can be hard to remember the things that help - that's why I recommend clients to make a list ahead of time.

What helps you when activated?

A Long Covid or ME/CFS recovery journey can be a very humbling experience - it certainly was for me. I've always been stubborn and independent.

But with Long Covid, I didn't have a choice.

Allow yourself to lean on someone else. Let go of control. Let people help.

Recovery feels like falling down time after time. Finding things that help, then crashing.
Finding some hope, then feeling like we've lost it.
Feeling better, then feeling worse again.
We need to keep picking ourselves up more times than we fall down.

Calming our nervous system is calming the stress-danger response & bringing ourselves into rest & digest. This is where our body is able to function.

A regulated nervous system (a process which takes time & practise) will surf the waves of life.

When I was sick with Long Covid I spent a lot of time fighting against the illness, acceptance, myself.

I was holding onto a lot of stuff. And being kinder to myself was important. To stop fighting and accept myself in that moment. In that moment- not forever!!

Recovery IS possible - people are recovering. But it's far from easy - in fact it's by far the hardest thing I've ever done.

I share my journey (& others) because I know how important it is to know that it's possible when you're in those low moments.

With something like Long Covid or ME/CFS, we often find ourselves with a lot of heavy and uncomfortable emotions.

Crying can be a great way of releasing that pressure.

It helps to regulate our nervous system, rebalance hormones and also helps us to release toxins from the body!
