In the early 1900s, the wage premium for going to college was the same for sons from both rich and poor families : +10 ranks (+15%) in the wage distribution.

Today, the wage premium has grown for the rich but sharply fallen for the poor. We call this "collegiate regressivity".

Fall of foreign sentiment towards US and visits to US. Some data. Follow the thread.
Goldman devotes a report to foreign boycotts of US goods. 🇺🇸

“.. this headwind provides an additional reason why US GDP
growth will likely underperform consensus expectations in 2025.

Enhancing the lives of many around the world equals combating climate change. This shows that equity is not only just but also efficient.
More than three billion people in the world do not have access to modern energy sources, such as electricity, for cooking.

Instead they have to rely on solid fuels, such as crop waste, wood, and coal, that cause indoor air pollution. This pollution kills millions of people every year.

🇬🇹Guatemala (1954)
🇧🇷Brasil (1964)
🇨🇱Chile (1973)
🇦🇷Argentina (1976)

Spain suffers from impressive, frightening low fertility in Spain, especially in its northwest rapidly aging territory. Portugal is not so bad.
By 2050, advanced economies will face just two workers per retiree. Public finances will teeter under shrinking support ratios.
Where to start? Better governance: A 1% improvement in governance could raise fertility by 8%.

These interesting results make me think about relative deprivation (relative to other times or other groups) as the main driver of political unrest. It's not absolute but relative deprivation, that drives that unrest.
Discontent thrives not in poverty’s depths but in the shadow of lost prosperity.
Across the #EU, once-thriving regions now stagnate, fuelling #discontent & #Euroscepticism.
It's not hardship alone, but the ache of decline that erodes trust in #institutions doi.org/10.1080/0013...

Fuente: www.fundacioncyd.org/informe-cyd-...
