Today is Spy Wednesday, the day that Christians remember the story of Judas the betrayer. I'm thinking today of Judas's frustration at what emerged, over time, as the Gospel truth of Jesus's life and ministry, and of how many of us still share and display Judas's Gospel rather than Jesus's.

Do I appreciate the teacher’s long, impassioned note to their students, including my child, about how beautiful they are as humans and how deeply their identity is not bound up in the results of the state standardized test tomorrow? Yes. But I’m so sad that it has to be said.
