We can’t all be Harriet Tubman, but I pray I may be a little bit more like her - with more determination to free myself from anything that has enslaved me, more courage to fight against injustice, more attentiveness to what God is saying and more willingness to go where the Spirit leads me.

Today is the feast day of Harriet Tubman, who died on this day in 1913.

If you haven’t seen Harriet on Netflix, do yourself a favour and watch it - a wonderful movie about a truly inspiring and remarkable woman.

"It’s odd to me that some of the same people who will use the epithet Jezebel for women who wear yoga pants or teach Sunday school take no notice at all when they themselves defend the same sorts of real crimes that Jezebel actually committed."

From Russell Moore: What's at stake is not just the survival of nations. It's the consciences of those who align themselves with what is unquestionably wrong.

The great thing about taking photos of tiny details within nature is everything becomes a photo opportunity. While waiting for my son to get out of a doctor’s hospital, I took this photo of the nature strip with my mobile phone. #photoopportunity #naturesbeautyiseverywhere

Achievements - and what really matters.
A reflection on how thinking about our accomplishments can sometimes make us lose sight of what really matters.

We all think we're playing the lead role in our own movie. When in reality, it is God's movie, Jesus has the lead role and we're all just supporting characters.

And yet each one of those supporting characters is important to God.

“Hope builds a bridge across the abyss into which reason cannot look. It can hear an undertone to which reason is deaf. To the hopeful, the world appears in a different light. Hope gives the world a special radiance; it brightens the world.”

Picked up a parcel from Kootong yesterday - and had completely forgotten what I ordered. Opened it this morning, feeling a bit miserable and rejected. And this was one of the books. ‘Uninvited: living loved when you feel less than, left out and lonely’ by Lisa TerKeurst.

Today I saw an eagle on the road. And I had a camera in the car.

I hope the people behind me are grateful I didn’t park my car where it was and get out and take a photo - because I was extremely tempted!!

When most people think about nature being beautiful, they probably think of the big and the majestic. Yet there's something even more amazing about seeing how much detail and beauty God has created in even the tiniest plant or animal.

Sun breaking through storm clouds yesterday - a good reminder that even when the storms hit, the sun is still there. Even when it's dark, God is waiting to break through.

Pambula Beach early yesterday morning.
There's something special about going to the beach first thing in the morning, to be there as the sun is rising and the world is starting to wake up.

Had a great time yesterday at Pambula beach, making friends with all the crabs (although I'm not sure they saw it that way).

It's a wonderful thing to look at rocks at the beach, just marvelling at the incredible diversity.
