Note that Bret Stephens chooses the metaphor of *saving a child from abuse* to describe Trump's foreign policy. Far right lunacy gets laundered into the mainstream by the center right in ways large and small.
Here's the kicker. If you want to understand why the center right has lined up behind Trump, Bret Stephens could not put it more succinctly. 6/🤮

I associate David Smith with his large steel sculptures, but the "Medals for Dishonor" are exceptional, cast in 1939-1940 as a rallying cry against domestic fascism. 1/3
