A great thing about being an artist is that you can basically be anything, a mechanic/engineer, architect, doctor with lines shapes, and colors on paper without actually having a lot of experience irl
and what experience/knowledge you DO have on the subject (mecha, anatomy, architecture) only helps

i think my top 5 favorite anime/manga are (In no order, I'm not sure if I can any above the other)
Dragonball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Mob Psycho 100, Berserk,
and honestly, i'm not sure if I've found a 5th yet...
But there are quite a few i find so meaningful and memorable and revisit periodically
