Schadenfreude Sunday School Spring Special - it certainly perked me up during my walk. I even found the short data discussion at the end intriguing. Such a brilliant and insightful team. 😊

Have written about JD Vance’s Munich speech. In what may prove to be the biggest week for European security since 1991, it’s time Europe listened to what Trump and his Vice President are telling us. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...
We need to listen to what Trump and Vance are telling us.
This may have been the biggest moment for European security since 1991.

This is such an important and helpful read. I want to keep up with what’s going on but feeling so overwhelmed and want to switch off. I know I mustn’t, so I like the concept of categorising the many different actions into 3 buckets and priorities to aid understanding.

Really interesting thread.
Trump is a One-Dimensional Negotiator

I'm going to get a little wonky and write about Donald Trump and negotiations. For those who don't know, I'm an adjunct professor at Indiana University - Robert H. McKinney School of Law and I teach negotiations. Okay, here goes.

It's been a terrible week. A terrible, terrible week. The worst people on earth are full of energy and vigour, the best are defined by anxiety and self-doubt. Here are three simple rules to surviving the next four years, because by God we'll need them iandunt.substack.com/p/a-little-b...

Came to Bluesky from that ghastly place to keep up to date with news and politics. However, I’m finding my Feed is getting me down with the constant grimness of how things appear to be. Would appreciate suggestions of accounts to follow to add some much needed lightness please. 🙂

I'm going to do some coverage on here of the assisted dying debate. If you're not interested please mute this thread now. It'll probably go on a while.

I have many lovely colleagues who are neurodivergent, so I listen to The Hidden 20% to gain an insight into different lived experiences to try and be more supportive. Given approx 1/5 of us fall into this category, posting in case others are interested. I think It’s brilliant. www.hidden20.org

Noticed in my US Politics feed someone saying they had seen several tweets re Musk wanting Trump to kill Bluesky. Another episode I enjoyed was @sturdyalex.bsky.social chatting to Rose Wang, Chief of Operations of Bluesky, and who actually talked about this scenario. m.youtube.com/watch?v=mUVV...

If anyone gets a little anxious at times because of the news, I recommend Quiet Riot podcast by @sturdyalex.bsky.social and @pimlicat.bsky.social, particularly the Sunday School episodes that look back on the week. Issues are discussed in a rational and contemplative manner that is quite soothing.

Listened to the most recent episode of The Trawl by @jemmaforte.bsky.social and @marina-purkiss.bsky.social and it’s the first time I’ve heard them reference a Bluesky skeet @ottoenglish.bsky.social. Things are certainly on the up here! 🙂

👏 “A lot of nature conservation is a long game. You plant a tree, you're not going to in your lifetime see that it reached its full potential. But within three months of that river being re-wiggled the salmon were spawning in that one kilometre stretch for the first time in over 150 years”
How restoring rivers' natural curves can prevent flooding
For centuries meandering rivers have been straightened – but experts say restoring their natural bends and curves can prevent flooding and create healthy habitats for wildlife.

Not come across this podcast before and really liking people’s feedback of the Harris/Trump debate analysis so looking forward to giving it a listen. Already listened to my usual two political podcasts so interested to compare their analyses.

Really enjoyed this debate. Been thinking of leaving Twitter/X for a while and Lewis’ points were what finally made me do it.

Can posts be easily duplicated across platforms? If the same posts can be viewed on Bluesky, and members can comment without fear of trolls, it’s surely a no brainer?
