We're at the SNP Conference today with the End Child Poverty coalition, talking about what's needed to meet Scotland's 2030 child poverty targets. It was standing room only, showing strong appetite for bold action. @margl24.bsky.social @childrenfirst.bsky.social

"We hoped @johnswinney.bsky.social would bring bold, ambitious plans to tackle the disgraceful levels of child poverty in Scotland. Instead, the Programme for Government, while well-intentioned, lacked real action."

We're grateful to @johnswinney.bsky.social for a frank & productive discussion ahead of the budget with our CEO @margl24.bsky.social about the need for more investment in whole family support to address child poverty & the transformative effect for children of good, community based support.

A huge number of children and young people are reaching out looking for support with their mental health. But systems are struggling to help them.

We need more early, community based family support to get alongside children and families, offer help quickly and stop things getting worse.
Today we are calling for action to address Scotland’s child mental health crisis after our FOI revealed a ‘staggering’ 100 referrals a day, on average, are being made to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

We see far too many children across the country that do not have access to the basics – a home, a bed, food on the table and an education. Children's rights need to be at the forefront of the First Minister's budget.
On World Children's Day, we're calling on First Minister John Swinney MSP to put children's rights first ahead of next month's budget.
Our chief executive Mary Glasgow has written to the First Minister today. Read her full letter on our website: www.childrenfirst.org.uk/news/a-lette...
