I’m from Los Angeles, live in Los Angeles right now, am Latina, am a protest & free speech lawyer. It’s deeply personal for me what’s happening here. Working nonstop, trying not to get sick. What do ppl need? We’re working on trainings, legal support, resources, space for our community to process.
With the escalating attacks in Los Angeles on our free speech rights & right to assemble/protest, I am sharing some resources. First, our protest rights guide @freepress.bsky.social in English & Spanish!

“I have come to wonder whether these expressions of despair and surrender are really masking an irrational longing for a magical way out of this nightmare - a hope that some deus ex machina will swoop down and spare us what we are facing.”

Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare.

Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.”

We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

The new censorship czar for Trump, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, is using investigation into NPR and PBS as an excuse to zero out all funding for the popular public-broadcasting networks. A threat to chill journalists and coverage that might be critical of the administration.
This appears to be yet another Administration effort to weaponize the power of the FCC.

The FCC has no business intimidating and silencing broadcast media.
Breaking News: The chairman of the FCC ordered an investigation into NPR and PBS this week over the practice of their member stations airing sponsorships.
