Big news here and sad for gardeners in the US 🌱
Gardener’s Supply Files for Bankruptcy as Its Sale Is Pending
The company was born in Burlington nearly four decades ago. It thrived during the pandemic, when gardening had a moment. But business has since slowed.

The long melt is on pause here for a couple days, but the smells from the Vermont Flower Show are helping me get through.

Made this today as my first foray into baguettes. The outside was, uh, rustic, but the interior didn't suffer despite my clumsy shaping and scoring. Fast too - made in the moments between a Tartine dough and done before that dough was even on bench rest. Win win.

Focaccia heads: made the King Arthur Baking (which will always be KAF to me) recipe of the year, Big Bubbly Focaccia. Put it in a larger pan as is my preference for a snack focaccia and not a towering beast to make a sandwich, but still quite tall and delicious as advertised.

Oven saga continues, but did some makeshift baking in the basic range at work. Having a solid baking vessel was very helpful, but the browning was a little uneven once the lid came off. Not bad though.

Bad news: my oven went kaput and, of course, there's a series of technical hurdles to cross to replace it.

Good news: these @wordloaf.bsky.social biscuits from the freezer cooked up fairly well even in our tiny toaster oven.
