What’s the logic of announcing Oscar nominations on 1/22 for a 3/15 ceremony? Awards season is long enough. No reason to extend campaigning to an untenable 7 wks. Ans some distributors aren’t keeping films in theaters that long to exploit nominations. Hold the ceremony 1 month after the nominations.

Love or loathe WUTHERING HEIGHTS, Robbie & Fennell deserve praise for taking an $80M risk on a theatrical release in light of $150M Netflix offer. WH made back its budget during 1st worldwide weekend in release and will break even on paper when it hits $200M.

Super Bowl’s impact on last w/end’s B.O. is evident based on performances of multiple holdovers. Negligible declines for SEND HELP and SOLO MIO. DRACULA and STRANGERS 3 sustained healthy drops (horror films often drop > 50% in 2nd w/end). Former significant as now reps Vertical’s highest grosser.

Always down for a Mike Flanagan Stephen King adaptation. But I prefer he adapt a book/short story new to the big screen or rework a critical/commercial flop. Not sure the purpose of remaking some of the best King films, as he is doing with MIST and his CARRIE miniseries.
