Jeffrey Alexander and the Heavy Lidders is a band name where you know what you're gonna get. If you say that you're surprised to find a heady jammy psych band with 2x guitars, bass, drums and sax putting out a live performance where they disintegrate before coming back together, I won't believe you.

10 years ago I went to all 5 of the GD50 Fare Thee Well shows. After the 2 in Santa Clara I was quite disappointed with the lack of Donn,a so I printed up thousands of Let Donna Sing stickers + freely passed them out at the next 3 shows in Chicago. Dig my all-Donna radio show link

My local coffee shop this morning was playing The Erlking when I walked in this morning. Wow. From Steve Gillette’s 1967 Vanguard LP with a Bruce Langhorne on guitar. I asked at the counter and they were like I dunno it’s just some online shuffle. Huh. Seems like a deep cut to me, no ?

On April 16, 2005 i booked a show for the Japanese band MONO at the venue I ran in Providence called AS220. In the middle of their set, I was behind the bar, when a bunch of cops ran in, guns drawn, pointing at me and screaming TURN OFF THE MUSIC, TURN ON THE HOUSE LIGHTS. the room was packed and 🧵

I posted this is a reply to another thread, but wanted to share this Auto Da Fe link here directly too. It’s a killer CD - 20 years on and it still rips. Too bad I was crap at promoting releases on my old label. More people should have heard this. Old music is still new music if you haven’t heard it
I have a lot of AFC. don’t know that track but I’ll check it out. Thx. Back when I used to run a record label (Secret Eye) I released this Auto da fe CD in 2006 with Tara from AFC . I booked a UK tour for them too . autodafe1.bandcamp.com/album/the-sp...

An official release of this excellent recording (by @kliked.bsky.social) from the Warm Up show to Deep in the Valley '24! A one time lineup that melted minds during stormy winds.
"Between Jeffrey and the Lidders, Tubby’s, and @eiderdownrecords.bsky.social , this live record represents the perfect psych-rock trifecta. It embodies everything good about underground music, and that’s why you need to listen to it."

I was at this show and am here to testify: it’s exactly the blend of heavy psych, groovy weirdness, and rock and roll that you need in your life.
