It's amazing how important the Beautiful Game is in people's lives. Here, we see freed Israeli hostages Ziv and Gali Berman in Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer shirts almost immediately upon arriving back in Israel:

Saying that a tennis player "won a Grand Slam" because they were US Open champion is like saying a baseball player "won a Triple Crown" because they hit the most RBIs in a season. OK?

This highlight embodies why it's called the Beautiful Game. RIP to a truly beautiful player and great human being, Diogo Jota, taken from us too soon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3J0...

The press has to stop reporting it as news every time the First Felon opens his mouth and it should especially not report it when what he says simply reflects his indecisiveness and lack of thought: www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Remember how the Republicans always used to say that we can't take steps to stop climate change because it will hurt GDP growth a couple of percentage points? Now, they want us to go along with the Great Leader's nonsense tariffs and take the hit to the economy.

I love the Beautiful Game! In tonight's Concacaf Nations League match between USA and Panama, Cecilio Waterman of Panama scored a really fine goal right in front of the Paramount/CBS commentary team. He ran off the field and kissed Thierry Henry on his bald head and shouted "tu eres mi idolo!"

A review in NYT of two books (one by Hannah Selinger) about the culinary world ends with this: "Unbelievably, Selinger ends her book by dedicating it to the people of Gaza. 'This book is yours too,' she writes. But, quite frankly, I doubt they would want it." Whaat? www.nytimes.com/2025/03/13/b...

I'm guessing that today's fascist-sounding quote from the Great Leader was fed to him by an aide to distract the public/media from what's actually happening. There is no way that he came up with it himself or that he was aware of the 1970 movie that it got lifted from. Ignore the distractions!

How important is the Beautiful Game in people's lives? Here is returned Israeli hostage Iair Horn at the hospital with his family sporting Hapoel Beer Sheva regalia (and they brought a shirt and scarf for him too!). The helicopter pilot obligingly flew him over the team's stadium on the way.

I had stupidly paid for a six-month subscription to the Washington Post six months ago. It finally ran out today. I might miss a bit of the content but I'm happy not to be funneling money to a paper that bows before the Great Leader.
