And we danced to the music, and we dance...

Founder and CEO of
fencesfrontiers.bsky.social

My words are my thoughts.
The left in the UK has needed someone as principled and charismatic as @zackpolanski.bsky.social for a long, long time.

Really exciting to see where Zack takes @greenparty.org.uk - and I particularly look forward to working together to protect and improve the rights of refugees.

To be clear - it is now illegal to engage in non-violent action against a genocide.

But entirely legal to volunteer to participate in the genocide and openly support it

Yesterday, we shared a wonderful mother's day celebration with our friends at Stanley arts. This was a jam-packed day of storytelling, card making (written in many mother tongues), kids comedy (bum jokes galore) and scrumptious cake made by the Stanley Arts team!

We will not restore trust in politics without giving people a real say in the decisions that affect them

Great to work w/ @bigissue.com & @right-here.org on this: www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

Local people & organisations understand their communities best & are best place to make key decisions
Vast majority of Brits feel powerless over local decisions – and it's eroding trust
84% of people feel like they have no power in decisions affecting them in their communities and on a local level, new polling shows.

You don't defeat fascism through appeasement.

You don't defeat fascism by becoming fascist

- lessons I presumed we all learned in year 8.

Proud to be one of signatories on this letter (representing @fencesfrontiers.bsky.social ) opposing the decision to bar refugees who arrive by irregular means from citizenship

Nothing but performative cruelty

Seeking sanctuary is an act of love. ❤️

Some families travel together. Some take dangerous journeys alone, in the hope their risk will open safer routes for loved ones.

So let’s show some compassion on this day of passion. Show your orange hearts!

The route or means a person takes to find safety has no relationship to the legitimacy of their claim.

This should not be something that needs spelling out under a Labour government.

Painting Pete Seeger as some bumbling jobsworth - what a joke. Time for a right of reply biopic.

And don't get me started on that weird Cash characature! Urgh.

Our final ramble of the year saw us back on the Parkland Walk, an old railway line turned nature reserve.

It was amazing to have such a big, lively group - swinging on ropes and fighting with leaves!

Our walks may be in hibernation but 2024 has plenty more in store!
