I’m an Iowan by choice twice-over, elected to represent District 89 in the State House of Representatives.
My schedule for today, not including any personal visitors who are coming, and I'm very excited about a few in particular.

Please, if you are coming to the Capitol, reach out in advance so that I can make sure to find you while you're here! It's not a guarantee, but I will make my highest effort!

Please, email me if this bill will improve your life in any way. I'm genuinely curious. In all my conversations, listening posts, and door knocking across the state, not a single person has told me that their biggest problem is that they can't murder raccoons.

Public health Day at the Capitol brought not one, but two of my favorite people from JoCoPH!

I've been so lucky to get to know my friend, constituent, and public health board director, Peter Wallace, over the past 4 years. His work as a pediatrician, and his advocacy since, are unmatched.

Pictures (at least the ones I managed to take!) cannot capture The amazing crowd that turned up with 3 days notice to my joint legislative check-in with Senator Weiner.

Of course, anyone who would like to speak with more privacy is more than welcome to reach out to me anytime.

The Aldo Leopold Amendment - this is everything. Without clean water, air, and soil, nothing else matters.

Grateful to the @thestormlaketimes.bsky.social for printing my recent Letter about Iowa's water.

Let's start somewhere!

Valentine's morning was a tour of local coffee shops! Started with a breakfast sandwich (not pictured-devoured) and immunitea at Zoetic, then a London fog at Java House, and finally Deluxe, where my sweetheart spouse had ordered a chai and pastries for me to share with some friends!

I'll keep digging into your specific concerns and appreciate your guidance!

#iadist89 was unified- the cost of living is weighing us down, and I'm going to keep pushing my #ialegis colleagues to get to work on REAL solutions that will help people, not divisive bills based in conspiracy theories!

Sen. Janice Weiner and I have coordinated some joint forums in #iadist89 for the session, and the first one is Sunday, Feb 15, 12-1pm at Sidekick Coffee and Books!

Come join us to share your questions, concerns, confusion, or thoughts. Or just come to get a boost of hope about Iowa's future!

Grateful to professionals in mental health, cyclists, and the conservation alliance for great conversations at the #IAlegis over the past two days!

First day #walkingtowork at the #ialegis for 2026. I've been in so early so many days this year and I will admit I have prioritized staying warm over getting this time to reflect and prepare myself. I missed it.

That's it. 30 days after the Governor's Condition of the State, and neither the House Education Committee nor the House Appropriations Committee had said a word on the topic of school funding.

Every year, too little, too late.

Just wrapped up Education Committee for the evening. When we come together, it is our responsibility to take seriously the work we do on behalf of Iowans.

I never, never forget what a privilege it is to have my voice heard in these rooms.

I have the absolute pleasure of representing the Iowa Geological Survey and State Geologist's Office in #IADist89, and was pleased to welcome Ryan Clark and Keith Schilling to the building to present to the Environmental Protection Committee on the topic of Hydrogen Exploration in Iowa!

When will we meet our obligation to our schools?
February 10, 2026 at 2:14 AM
Excellent visit to #IowaPBS, where we got updates about the ongoing archival projects, the now no longer leaking roof, and all of the phenomenal programming available on four channels to all Iowans 24/7!

Our history lives in a few places in this state, and that building is one of them.

Once again, I'd like to thank the Iowa House Republicans for bringing so many of my friends to the #ialegis to make their voices heard.

JoCo Food Policy Summit cancel due to weather? 😭
JoCo Food Policy Summit rescheduled to when I can attend and only two blocks from my house?😍

When a hundred people who are just trying to make sure everyone has their basic needs met getting a room together, the idea generation is electric.

Ending my day at home at the ICPL for the Foreign Relations Council talk between William Lopez and Alejandra Escobar about Lopez's book Raiding the Heartland: An American Story of Deportation and Resistance.

Still, the message is #considercompassion.

My Republican colleagues would rather have us legalize child abuse, take away medical decisions, and stomp out local control than clean up Iowa's water or fund our schools.

On Monday, I will help friends testify about their child abuse experience, then put on a smile and head off to tour IowaPBS.
