I've made the decision to keep playing #Umamusume for the time being, but I will not be spending any more money on it.
Based on much research and evaluation, it seems that #Cygames' use of gen AI, while unfortunate, is relatively harmless, at least so far. I will keep my eyes peeled, however. 1/4

At the very least the laws back then allowed for execution. ICE doesn’t even have the legal mandate for the things they do.

At most it seems to me like Cygames’ properties were/are known for great creative teams, but that’s not really about the corporate entity itself in my mind

It’s pretty dishonest to not at least take into account the positive change umamusume has brought to horse racing and especially the living conditions of racehorses

Didn't expect #Cygames' statement on the AI stuff to get people even more worked up. I figured it was about the best we could hope for and everyone would forget.
But now I feel we have a real chance to do something. So we shouldn't stop speaking up about it.

This does mean they'll bend to pressure though, they wouldn't've bothered posting this otherwise. I imagine if this ever gets to a point where they are using AI in their products, people will raise hell over it again. I think a good course of action is sending more feedback for now.

if nothing else, this feels like a sign that yes, we're actually being heard, even if the response is corpo as hell as expected.
i've already sent them an email in response and i feel like anyone who previously contacted them (or didn't and still has concerns) should do so again.

I’m still not going to be spending any money on the game and I will only buy merch secondhand if at all. Fan works are of course exempt as well.

If it is in fact true that the ai stuff may be influenced by pressure from investors, then this actually makes sense. Even if not, I’m at least glad to see that artists are being favored at all. As game companies have started to do this shit more and more, even this level isn’t guaranteed.

People are understandably not entirely happy about this, but I see it as a good sign. We’ll see how things develop.
Cygames EN posted a statement on the formation of the Cygames AI Studio and it really feels empty-handed. They claim they will notify players when they do eventually use GenAI in their products but do not mention if they will use it at a conceptual level. The easiest solution is DON’T USE IT AT ALL!

I totally understand anyone quitting the game. I understand people abandoning the franchise. But the anime, specifically Pretty Derby season 2, has cemented itself as something truly special in my heart. It's hard for me to give up hope on this. I hope people can understand that.

At least, it seems artists are still being treated well at #Cygames and have the reigns on projects. I hope things stay that way. But if things take a turn for the worse, I will have no choice but to stop playing/watching #Umamusume stuff. I will still always love the main anime, though. 3/4

I hate AI, but it seems that almost every franchise I like is owned by a company tinkering with it on some level. It's hard to accept, but use of AI somewhere in the production chain is almost impossible to avoid outside of indie titles. 2/4

I’m not entirely sure what you’re referring to, but liking a product isn’t the same as “glazing” a company. I’m sure there are some who do that but it’s not a majority.
People are allowed to be upset that everything is being ruined with ai. Feels sorta victim blame-y to say stuff like this.
