Good morning. Today in "One day, one paper", metabarcoding reveals CO₂-fixing microbes (CFMs) are abundant (up to 40% of bacteria) and diverse in peatlands. Models show CFM abundance is directly driven by community richness, with the environment as an indirect driver of this key C-cycle component 🌎

I love these! I don't come across them often in the field - I didn't realise they are a threatened species.
I just got back from fencing off some of the regionally critical turnip-rooted geraniums and checked the one I transplanted 3 months ago. It's flowering! First time I've seen this. 🌏

Spent the morning holding a dingo pup called Koa. He is one of five babies currently needing socialisation. They are being cared for by the remarkable, dedicated and passionate Solé Beatriz Falcón of the Black Dingo Alliance who rescues orphaned and abandoned dingoes.

A man in Prince Edward Island got doubly lucky last July, recording a meteorite's impact on his home security cameras. The space rock also landed in the exact spot he'd been standing minutes earlier.
