Predator: Badlands is lots of fun.

I like The Running Man.

OK, now that Stranger Things is over, can we please now retire that bloody Kate Bush song until the end of time? Cheers.

Can’t believe it’s 2026 and I still have to block Last Jedi haters. Have you really not found another thing for your entire existence to revolve around yet?

No. After all the rigmarole we’ve been through with Sam earning and owning the name Captain America, they’re just gonna undermine it all and bring Steve back? In what pissweak neck of the multiverse was it “always going to come back to this”? Steve’s story is OVER. This is unnecessary and unwanted.
The Russo Brothers break silence on Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers in ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’

“The character that changed our lives. The story that brought us all here together. It was always going to come back to this.”

I get that American movie trailers say movies are “in theaters”, but why do Americans always say “I saw that in theaters”? How many “theaters” did you see it in? Just say “in the theater”, or “in a theater.” It sounds like you went around to every cinema you could find to see it over and over again.

Saw Honey Don’t! Better than Drive-Away Dolls, but still lacks some of that “Coen Brothers-ness” that the joint works have. Plaza gives perhaps my favourite performance of hers. Evans has ranting down to an art. But Qualley is the sexy, husky-voiced glue holding it all together; she’s captivating.

Or read the book, which is far better.
Those who appreciate a cozy murder mystery movie would do well to check out this Netflix adaptation starring Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren (among others).

Wake Up Dead Man is SO GOOD. Yet another twist on whodunits while perhaps being the whodunitest whodunit of the series. Another all-great ensemble and another sweet fit for Benoit. Performances are so good and so distinctive it took me a sec to realise Bond and Leiter were on screen together again.

Man that new Red Sonja movie is garbage. Not what I waited 30 years to see.

Australia has no jungle, but I’d assumed this garbage was made in the Top End somewhere, or at least somewhere tropical. But northern NSW? Come on.

A few eps into the new Robin Hood, I have to say I’m enjoying it, despite - or in part because of - the historical liberties taken. Depicting it as a clash of religions, putting the Celtic sprit stuff in, makes it unique in a way I find fun and interesting even as I disbelieve it from a history POV.

Underrated, like the first CM. It’s become a kind of comfort watch for me. Always makes me smile.
2 years ago today, ‘THE MARVELS’ released in theaters.

All it took was half a Fanning sister. Next movie, watch the Predator use a waist-down (but somehow still able to talk, perhaps telepathically) Dakota as a gun mount.

But seriously, I really wanna see Badlands.
The box office of ‘PREDATOR: BADLANDS’

• Earned $15.6M in its domestic opening day - the highest ever for a Predator film.

• Earned $40M in its domestic opening weekend - the highest ever for a Predator film.

• Earned $80M in its worldwide opening weekend - the highest ever for a Predator film.

This is really sad. I loved him in everything I saw him in, especially as Uncle Bob in Nikita and the general in Luc Besson’s underrated Joan of Arc. And GoldenEye. And Bad Boys. And a bunch of other things. Great actor. Vale, Tchéky. 😔

Started watching The Residence. Interesting to see that Julian McMahon’s final role is not only as an Australian (which I can’t recall him ever doing in an American production), but as an Australian Prime Minister… and involves him appearing in scenes with his ex-sister-in-law. 😬

They’re doing it! I just saw on IMDb that Christopher McQuarrie is REMAKING THE GAUNTLET! With Tom Cruise (of course) and Scarlett Johansson! The age difference is a bit gross… but Tom’s character is supposed to be an old burnout, and Scarj is in her 40s now, which in Hollywood just means OLD. 😬
Looks like fun. My only familiarity with the story is the Arnie movie (the book has been on my to-read pile for ages), and this looks like a cool update.

I’ve been wanting a remake of Clint Eastwood’s The Gauntlet (kinda this sans TV show with a romcom element), but this should tide me over nicely.
The first trailer for Edgar Wright's adaptation of Stephen King's The Running Man is here, and it seems that Wright's film is making a big change from the book.
