One man’s ramblings about the World’s most competitive egg chasing
Pinned
Having just come back from Rome, the WRU could do more to promote an atmosphere.

Welsh music should play at every pause. No Coldplay/ACDC, but the Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, or any other singer/song.
Teach the fans & expand the repertoire.

We’re the land of song, let’s act like it.
Sebastien Chabal not remembering one minute of his rugby career is devastating news.

Yet another sign (if we needed it) that our game needs to change if it’s going to survive.

Referee has lost all control here.

That is a terrible decision.

Another one that has seemingly got away for the Scarlets.

Is it just the Welsh sides that can’t close out a game?

Referee very keen to penalise at the breakdown.

x10 penalties awarded in the first 20 minutes.

Lions expertly targeting that area at the moment.

We need to clarify the rules.

How far back can you go to disallow a try?

Well, that was something special.

Those Welsh boys stepped up to boys that were physically twice their size.

Immense effort. Was quite something to be there at a record-breaking Arms park tonight.

Feeling slightly aggrieved this morning with that Blair Murray wonder-score.

Have no problem with it being disallowed, but then want consistency.

Feels like the Officials often referee to the perceived standard of the player/team involved.

See this try by Dupont in 2024:

To be clear, you are not allowed to jump to avoid a tackle; in-play, or in the act of scoring a try.

No objections to Blair Murray’s try being over-ruled. However, can’t shake the feeling that if it was Dupont, it would’ve been given.

See Jonny May’s try below:

That is a travesty. That rule is hardly ever referee’d.

Jonny May made a career out of that.

Totally bewildered how this wasn’t looked at - phase before WG John yellow card, and Scotland’s try.

Jac Morgan asked referee to have a look for a knock-on. Ref said no.

Both those Elliot Dee penalties went the wrong way.. ridiculous refereeing.

No Princess Anne today. Thank God.

Feels like a changing of the guard for Ireland today.

Healy, Murray, O’Mahoney all to retire.

However, a couple more look dead on their feet here.

Bet France are regretting that 7-1 bench split now…

France opting for a 7-1 bench split against Ireland.

May be controversial, but these forward - back splits are bad for rugby.

Rule should be 5-3 and that should be that.

To all the thousands of Irish fans who made the trip over this weekend: cheers, you were class.

Great singing, great craic, and you drank us dry of Guinness.

Hope you enjoyed, and realised that our Temple Bar is far superior to yours.

See you in Dublin.

Re-watching yesterday with a smile on my face.

What a win for Welsh Rugby in all aspects, bar the result.
Metres made, stars found, scrum unbelievable.

We want Anscombe on for 80 minutes next weekend I think. Kicking game the difference yesterday.

Wales to play Argentina, Japan, NZ and South Africa this Autumn.

Good for finances to see the fourth game return (albeit not mine…)

Dragons sign Seb Davies, Thomas Young, Wyn Jones, Tinus de Beer.

Good signings all of them, but how do they afford it ?

A sad day for Welsh rugby, amongst many other sad days, and many more to come.

Gatland’s position was untenable, but he is the scapegoat for what are the huge failings of the WRU.

This is not the solution.
February 11, 2025 at 10:57 AM
As per the Mail, it has been reported that Warren Gatland will be stepping down as Wales coach.

Sad that it had to end like this.

History will be kind to him, I think.

Said it in the stands on Saturday: Wales should absolutely put in a move for Simon Easterby once his temporary stint as Head Coach of Ireland is done. Quality coach.

Problem is, Ireland have a clear succession and Easterby is lined up to don the crown after Farrell departs.

Over to you Ms Elgan…

Wales should be very afraid with Ireland up next.

They have absolutely pummelled Scotland all over the park today. Held up three times over the line - could really have been a record-breaking victory.
