Award-Winning author of five YA novels. SCBWI and Pennwriters member, proud autism mom, lover of cats and sugary things.
IN THE DARK OF A DREAM was partially inspired by my daughter who has dealt with Night Terrors her whole life. When she was a kid, I'd run into her bedroom and just hold her as she screamed, trapped in her mind, unable to wake up. It was awful, but it was inspiration. This is writer life.

In DREAMER I wrote a chapter where Jessa goes to an alternate reality and sees a wooly mammoth underneath the northern lights. My editor only had one note on that chapter. Four words.
"This is pure magic."
I still play those words in my mind whenever I'm having a rough day.

When Blue Mancini's brother made a life-changing decision, his wasn't the only life affected. Being the helpless collateral damage of a hugely impactful event is no way to live - but Blue is doing the best she can.

The weather app says it’s raining . . .
Guess I’ll need to go out and shovel some rain whenever it decides to stop. 😒

In my YA fantasy TRAVELER, Jessa has recurring dreams about a specific guy. This, of course, means he's written into her stories. They say when you're loved by a writer, you can never die (unless a murderous multi-dimensional being is out to get you).

Plugging away at a fun YA fantasy with a snarky book boyfriend. I'm really enjoying writing this one but I'm approaching the dreaded "muddle in the middle."

A To Z Book Review: Artemis By Andy Weir
My first read for this year's A to Z Reading Challenge was ARTEMIS by Andy Weir. I was really looking forward to this one - after all, I loved THE MARTIAN and PROJECT HAIL MARY was about as perfect a book as I have ever read. But this was more of a good read than a great one. Jasmine "Jazz" Bashara is a resident of Artemis, the only city on the moon.
