Long lengths of horizontal deadwood have been left to provide a habitat for fungi and insect larvae, and a place for frogs and toads to hide.

Leafield Community Woodland is open again. JAG Trees have pollarded 1 mature ash, and removed deadwood from a further 3. They also felled 9 young ashes suffering from Ash Dieback, allowing more light to reach neighbouring oaks. Trafalgar Oak was pollarded, following severe damage by squirrels.

Our tree planting project began in 1997, with the aim of planting trees in our Parish. This idea grew into Leafield Community Woodland. Money was raised by villagers to purchase the land, and trees were grown from local seeds by Leafield school children.
