Across social media platforms, political posting is linked to affective polarization--extreme users post the most.

As polarized partisans increasingly dominate the conversation, casual users disengage and the online public sphere grows smaller, sharper, and more extreme. arxiv.org/html/2510.25...

"Kids are different today," I hear every mother say
Mother needs something today to calm her down
And though she's not really ill, there's a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of her mother's little helper
And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day
See, bringing up kids is easy peasy, such a lark!

TIL that, in a private conversation in 1943 (before even the Teheran conference), Roosevelt admitted that he nurtured no illusions about the true intents of Stalin, but that he hoped that, after twenty years of European influence, the Russians would become less barbaric.

I greatly admire my colleague Sam but I disagree with this interpretation.

We have to distinguish decision utility, which is non-comparable across people from normative judgements about welfare which do allow interpersonal comparisons.

Economic theory allows us to discuss both.
We rarely think of economics as scandalous, but maybe we should. Sam Bowles, in conversation with @durlauf.bsky.social & Ethan Bueno de Mesquita, argues that a core assumption in the field impedes moral reasoning about wealth redistribution. Watch "Why Economic Inequalities Endure"→ bit.ly/3Yj4F3B
