There is something deeply fucked up and simultaneously beautiful about the food and clothing outreach happening in Minneapolis. It showcases the goodness in people. It also showcases how utterly fucked our country has become that it's necessary.

INTERRUPTED. DON'T PRETEND IT WASN'T.
On MLK Day, we’ll hear a lot of quotes from people actively dismantling his legacy, including the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Dr. King’s work was never finished. It was interrupted.

For real, texting with my dad in real time about the Bears is 100% worth it. I love him so much.

My parents usually watch games on delay. Not tonight. I am losing my mind texting them about it. Bad daughter I guess 🤦‍♀️ Bear down!!!

There are two kinds of bears fans. My boyfriend: already asleep. Me: actively trying to not throw things at the tv and wake him up 🤷‍♀️

Being in a book club with your family means walking the line between entertaining and informing. Like,”Read this book! It’s not high-quality and will only moderately bother you, but I hope it raises some questions for you anyway!”

Hi, Chicagoan here. YES, YOU ARE HEARING IT ELSEWHERE. YOU'RE IGNORING IT.
Blanche alongside a video of ICE brutalizing a protester: "There are thousands of immigration actions all over this country every single day, and nowhere do you hear this made up outrage from local politicians and activists except for in Minnesota. And that should be telling to the American people."

I'm listening to this stupid segment on CNN about safety for nurses and all I can think is ARE YOU FUCIKING KIDDING ME?! I worry about my sister's well-being every damn day she goes to work. Their pay should be doubled. It should be hazard pay every fucking day.

My nephew has decided he likes poetry. I have to be careful about what I share and how. He’s too young for this but FUCK youtu.be/lpPASWlnZIA?...

I am having a goddamn DAY. Ran some errands thinking it was way warmer than it was, froze my ass off, wound up paying $5 for a fucking contact lens case because it was necessary and somehow the best available option nearby and then lost my fucking wallet getting off the bus. FML.

They have done a better job of serving the public than CBS News. Let that sink in.
To be clear, comics have long played a role in politics and have significantly influenced the public's understanding of important issues. But late night is a different category, particularly on major networks. What Colbert, Myers, and Kimmel are doing is nothing short of extraordinary.

There's something to be said that commercialized "late night" comedy has transitioned to some of the most politically brutal commentary we get right now (Fallon excluded, but he always sucked). I thought maybe I was missing something, but no, late night has largely been apolitical since inception.

Remember when Obama had to do a world tour of speeches trying to rehab the American image abroad post-Bush? No amount of charismatic apology is getting us out from under the international mountain of shit Trump has built in our names. This is generational damage on an unprecedented level.

Me, telling partner about a fiction concept: Ok, imagine THIS actress. (wait ten minutes)
Him: Yeah... that's too complicated.
Me: (pause) Is it because you're thinking of that actress?
Him: (pause) Yeah, probably.

I really love my partner. I’m so fortunate to have him in my life, even with his odd aversion to salt and somewhat understandable hatred of Gilmore Girls ❤️

I’ve been doing pretty low intensity VO work, but it still requires a certain level of audio quality. My cat Mack has been especially needy this morning, and curled himself around my neck as I worked. Adorable yet heartbreaking when the mic started picking up his purring and I had to kick him out 😭

Murdoch was vile, but Weiss is just self-absorbed and terrible at her job, and we got stuck with her at the worst moment possible. She is at best a useful idiot for the WH. At worst? I think her ambition and desire to be noteworthy are driving her to destroy a vital public institution.

The 6-month-old that DHS is tweeting about here lived in the neighborhood and the baby’s father was just trying to evacuate his family after federal agents had shot someone.

We talk about a reckoning in America post-Trump. I think there’s one coming abroad, as well. Trump is behaving like a violent authoritarian, and I think leaders who let it slide at this point because “America” are going to face some very tough questions. Putin and Xi are the biggest winners in this.

The reason they don’t have obgyns is because archaic, monstrous, anti-woman, anti-choice laws have made it impossible to practice, you fraudulent, feckless, unapologetic fame whore of a political cancer.
Dr Oz: "Alabama has no OBGYNs in many of their counties, so they're doing something pretty cool. They're actually having robots do ultrasounds on these pregnant moms."
