One of my hobby horses is that most coverage of housing and real estate does not consider the rental market and assumes everyone wants to or can buy a home eventually. Thank you Indy Star for pairing a job that includes the full range of housing and real estate!

Maricopa County voters recently received two separate mailings about their voter registration status, including one that’s incorrect.

Here's why both letters were sent and what to do if you got them:

What to do if you got letters from the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office
An erroneous mailing has caused confusion, but voters who get a letter demanding proof of citizenship need to act to keep voting in state and local elections.

A new 76ers arena would cost SEPTA millions. City Council may approve it even if the team does not agree to subsidize the transit agency for the additional annual $21 million cost, a key lawmaker said.

A new 76ers arena would cost SEPTA millions. City Council may approve it anyway, a key lawmaker said.
The likelihood that the arena would add costs to SEPTA undermines the 76ers’ repeated contention that the project will cost local taxpayers nothing.

My biggest pet peeve about public transit policy is when its only purpose is seen as commuting to work.

A good transit system is there to support all kinds of trips at all times of the day, not only office commutes. Groceries, football games, coffee shop trips, concerts, etc.

“While pandemic shifts in commuting patterns contributed to SEPTA's current financial straits, the reduction in turnpike funding transfers is the real culprit of the fiscal cliff,” according to a housing and transit policy analyst.
