I point to it and say, I loved you here. the magic of curling toes on checkered tile, the palm's foliage like rays exalting your shoulders. Poem reads: YOU ARE SO EASY TO LOVE IT IS DUMB in case no one has told you today, your laughs are the tiny violets dotting the satin lining of my favorite coat - holding all the warmth to my chest. your laughter like a hair ribbon flipping in the whoosh of wind. your smile like a sooty firefighter kicking down the door of my engulfing heart - saving the family dog! I am here from the future, and you are the chosen one choosing to shake your booty as you caramelize shallots and garlic. I am every bystander watching your bottom groove as if it's the most heroic act, as if it could corral a speeding train running off the tracks. you are so easy to love! I love you like involuntary heel kicks before sleeping - without thinking! in case no one has asked you today, please gift me stories about your day! send voice notes where you trail off — forgetting what you want to say, I will hit replay. will recite the shimmy of your vowels like a tune humming in my brain. & in case you've spent all day telling yourself otherwise, it's like after I first learned how to draw stars. transforming every notebook page into this tangible outer space - you are so easy to love, so easy to love, it's like doodling stars. Poem: NO I DIDN'T EAT TODAY; I'VE BEEN DRINKING AND I LOVE YOU I am too goddamn sentimental to tell you any other way but a half drunk text composed in the bathroom of the bar - because I feel it and now I'm falling over myself to tell you like a robo telemarketer's cold call; like when I told you in the blush of dusk how the curl of your eyelashes makes Aphrodite jealous, could put Maybelline out of business and you laughed as if I am not a claw machine robbing parents and children of this kind of currency, and how I want to make myself so small that I swing in the loose loops of yarn dangling in the armpit of your favorite sweater. How I want to connect every mole on your back into a rocket ship to blast us to outer space where the air I breathe is air you breathe recycled between our lungs into infinity and one. Do you get it? I am too goddamn sentimental to explain it any better than this. Loving you is like...getting first place in Mario Kart.
