Even on a grey day, the Lao Lake House is a special place. Yesterday’s change gave the garden a nice refresh, and our guests fell asleep to the sound of rain hitting the roof.

Magnificent day at the lake! Post-rainy-season maintenance is in full swing. After weeks of daily downpours it’s finally settled, we’ve switched on the garden irrigation and the team are working feverishly to bring things up to code. Huge thanks to the team for all their hard work.

After months of rain the Alpinia Purpurata (Red Ginger) is blooming. This one is native to the pacific islands but we have a handful and they're a lovely contrast to the green. The bright red structure is called a bract which is a modified leaf that surrounds and protects the actual flowers inside.
