I did to not know that Heathcliff is supposed to be a racialized other in Wuthering Heights! I would've read it a lot sooner if I knew we were delving into all this race and class stuff. So . . . why do we have Jacob Elordi playing him in the Emerald Fennell adaptation?
September 16, 2025 at 11:19 AM
I'm finally getting around to reading Wuthering Heights because I want to weigh in on the new adaptation. Emerald Fennell's other films bothered me, particularly given her (very) wealthy background. Am I just now reading Wuthering Heights because I'm being a bit of a hater? Maybe! And what of it?

Thanks so much to @genrepunkmag.bsky.social for publishing this little weirdo! The idea for this piece came from when I had a boyfriend that I found to be condescending and a know-it-all. So, I started making up historical "facts" to tell him. Apologies for my contribution to the misinformation age
