Hello! I am Landon, a junior meteorology student at NIU who’s into space weather, photography, and storms. I love to help people see the aurora borealis here in the United States, especially at low-mid latitudes.

The ICECHIP field campaign to study hail in May - June 2025 is considered flexible, allowing deployment and the collection of hailstones from Texas to Montana and east towards the Mississippi River, where terrain permits.

If this tornado picture were 60 feet wide and 40 feet tall and you stood right in front of it, it still wouldn't take up as much of your vision as it did in real life. You can't sum up a supercell in a picture.

One month ago, tonight, in Northern Illinois during a severe G4 geomagnetic storm. The aurora became so bright that it lit up the dark agricultural soil.

This was a fireball meteor at 5:00 AM from Mauna Kea, Hawaii on November 9th, 2024. It turned the sky a very bright teal for a second before leaving a persistent train.

We are now under the influence of a CIR from a coronal hole. The IMF will remain enhanced through most of the day, and the Bz is dominantly in a south orientation.
