That was a fun weekend in Memphis. The explosive Ja game in a Grizzlies loss on Friday, Jaren magnificent (and Bane) in big win Saturday followed by emotional Tony Allen jersey retirement and Tigers getting the fifth seed (!) in tourney. March Madness indeed.

Wow, so sad. Such an amazing voice and one of the icons of the childhood of kids in the 70s and 80s with commercials and entertainment. Loved his charm and wit. Glad he had one last playoff appearance with the Brewers, even if it was short.
It’s the day we all hoped would never come. Bob Uecker, the voice of the Brewers for the last 54 years and “Mr. Baseball” to fans around the world, passed away overnight, according to his family and the team. He was 90.

Summers in Wisconsin will never be the same.

This is actually a helpful read as I prepare to host a holiday party this weekend. We drink a lot of bourbon but I’m often like Jack in “Sideways” when tasting wine: “yeah, sure, it’s good” while quickly moving to the next one. apple.news/AhwR-x2bbQVu...

The Yacht Rock documentary on Max is fantastic.
So our newest Music Box film is called “Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary” — watch it right now on HBO and Max. It’s good!

I grew up in Arkansas during the old Southwest Conference where I learned to tell Aggie jokes and do the Horns down sign. Still, I had high hopes for a great game tonight in the return if they rivalry. Alas, I’ve fallen asleep multiple times watching A&M not make a real threat.

Auburn looked stellar. A bit deflating after Memphis getting two big wins but I’m still hopeful for this season. Was a fun Maui tourney.
I was impressed by the Memphis #GoTigersGo in Hawaii. Auburn was tough. Lessons learned.

One of the things I dislike about global work is meetings at off hours, specifically 7 am today but sometimes 6 am and even 1 am once. Of course it’s a blessing to work with individuals from wonderful organizations like today’s gathering with WHO, PAHO and UNICEF.

As I slowly build a community here I hope the global health friends will read past my Memphis Grizzlies posts. The same goes for Memphians who aren’t as interested in global health conversations. It’s good to have multiple interests, yes?

As a former travel writer, I cherished the community building and information sharing that took place in scheduled Twitter chats. It was a great way to learn, share my information/stories and create and build community. I’d love to join/create a global health community here.

Good read. She obviously has great spirit and determination to come back from that injury. Also important to note how crucial Regional One Health is in memphis.
On this day one year ago, Memphian Emily Hamilton was on a Life Flight to Regional One, her spine crushed in a car accident.

Doctors called it a miracle she walked two weeks later. They said she wouldn't touch her toes again.

Now, she's teaching yoga.
