The sound of men and women leaving the docks and packing their things. Students and professors alike stepping out into the chilly air, speaking in excited murmurs about projects and research. These were all signs of the day’s end in Sharlayan, just as much as the sun setting below the frigid, gray clouds that made up the sky. Of course, it wasn’t always so cold, though typically there were only two kinds of weather: either the clouds were there, or they were not. Tonight, they drifted lazily through the gray-blue air above, blanketing the world below in a thin layer of falling snow. None of this seemed to bother G’raha Tia, even as he abandoned the warm, comfortable halls of the grand Sharlayan Archives out into the dreary cold, so buried was he in the book he held open in his right hand. In his left he carried a stack of four others, balancing them in a practiced, yet precarious manner that seemed utterly irresponsible. This, too, was fairly typical. He might have considered bringing a bag to carry his other tomes in, or perhaps his reading could wait until he was settled down at his desk, however he’d quite regrettably forgotten his satchel back at the Baldesion Annex. As for his impatient reading... Well, he simply didn’t have time to waste on walking."
