I haven’t been to Vicksburg in years. This post makes me want to plan a photo trip.
On December 12, 1862, the USS Cairo sank in the Yazoo River during the American Civil War after striking a torpedo. It was a significant loss for the Union navy, showcasing the dangers of river warfare. The Cairo is now a museum exhibit in Vicksburg.

My new fav assignment is having students create educational websites on a course-related topic using Google Sites.
The websites are usually very well done, much more fun to grade than papers, & students seem to enjoy the project.

I love how when I walk by my Mac mini with my iPhone in my pocket or my Apple Watch on, the keyboard lights up. I always imagine the brief communication between them is something like, “The Apple in me recognizes the Apple in you. Namaste.”

I took a deliberate break from all things school this weekend, no grading, no grad school. I made sure I was caught up or even a little ahead before I left Friday so I could do this, but even so, I have still had moments where anxiety screams at me, "WHY AREN'T WE SCHOOLING???? WE MUST SCHOOL!!"
