There is a direct causal line from Marsha Pincus at Julia R Masterman School teaching us Finn and Beloved side by side in 2002, to my 15 years and counting as an English teacher in high poverty schools.
Reading this for the first time since reading James while thinking about how I’ll teach both of them together next fall (opening w this in September) is making this a fun/layered reading experience.

...unfortunately I also suck at organizing so I married a good poster maker?
something I’ve learned about myself is that I have to be the one to organize the actions and protests to compensate for the fact that my poster making abilities are trash
