I loved this short story by Mia Dalia ! Despite the blood splatter on the cover (...so Red !) it is a story of ordinary people and how their life influences their response to extraordinary events.

Not seen the TV yet but just finished Mick Herron's Slow Horses, based on a long-ago recommendation by @rjbarker.bsky.social . Spy fic is not my usual fare but this is an absolute masterpiece, exquisitely written. Also superb audio narration by Sean Barrett.
