How does work autonomy shape fertility decisions in the UK? 🤔
📊 Using UKHLS (2009–2019) data, we find:
No link for men.
Highly educated women: + for second child, - for motherhood.
Less educated women: Mixed results.

I'm happy to share my new paper in JLMR (IAB)! Using admin data, I study women's employment trajectories after their first childbirth. I show that women in cognitive jobs are more likely to return to work, while those in routine jobs often face unemployment.
