I JUST updated, and it logged me out of EVERYTHING

If it does that again, I swear to GOD!

Kynetyk Management Tip:
When something goes wrong, often two fixes are needed.
1. To prevent the problem from happening again
2. To handle the problem well if it happens again anyway

What the FUCK is it with some YouTube ads lately that only play audio in one ear?

Assuming this isn't an editor that's never used editing equipment before, this ain't grabbing my attention, it's pissing me off.

As a QA manager, what takes up most of my time?
Nope, not testing, or even team management.
For me it's technical Customer Support and Live Ops fires.

Huh, it'd be mildly amusing if Angry Amish Roadkill and Rochester Roadblock were a tag team.
...
AEW would do that and call them "Kill Block", wouldn't they?

Why does pro wrestling work so hard to make itself unpalatable?
I feel like any time I try to get re-engaged and invested, I get punished for that.

Maybe that's just me, "like what you like" and all that, but... eesh.

Dealing with another one of these "I'M A MYSTERY! I'M A MYSTERY!" issues, so I had to get the clip from Vivarium.

Kynetyk Management Tip:
When setting up a process, the goal isn't "This'll run fine if nothing goes wrong", it should be a process robust to as much going wrong as you can manage.

Sometimes a bug is like that damn kid from Vivarium

"I'M A MYSTERY! I'M A MYSTERY! I'M A MYSTERY!"

Shut up, shut up, go away PLEASE!

There's something uniquely depressing about a dead facebook page, especially for a game or game developer. If it were a website, it'd go down and only live on in the wayback machine. Facebook keeps it up, though. A laminated snapshot of the last thing anyone on the team thought to say to socials...

You know what?
The scene where they fly around the Enterprise in Star Trek The Motion Picture did drag on for a bit. BUT they had an AWESOME model, they knew it, and they wanted to make sure you could see every detail, and I really appreciate that.

One thing that can help make for a good software tester is if you get a slight touch of vengeful schadenfreude when you can make someone else look stupid.
Not enough to be toxic, unprofessional, or anything like that. Just enough to know that finding other people's mistakes is rewarding for you.

For some reason I watched Devil in Ohio, and...
the length needed to be cut down by at least half.

Whoever decided that the search in slack should default to "relevant" instead of "newest" can burn in hell

This plays in my head every time I hear a producer or executive make a light remark about a release where I put in the OT work to do the testing, and did the extra coordination work like functional engineering management (not my job!) to get everything done to make that release happen.
April 18, 2025 at 6:54 PM
I try to set up an efficient day of work, setting up all of the requirements for everyone so no one is blocked and...
I lose 4 hours on people waiting anyway and meetings and other unnecessary things.

I feel like the guy from Krull who can't keep hold of the sands of time. It all just slips away.

Kynetyk Management Tip:
There's an important line between "Don't just bring up problems, offer solutions" and "Do someone else's job for them"

Kynetyk Management Tip:
If you notice that your team is "managing up" to you, try to be attentive to what's going on and why that's happening.
