A few tips for NEH grantees:

The @congrelib.bsky.social launched a project to inventory all of print holdings starting in January. Lots of discoveries, like William Everett’s manuscript historical address for the 300th anniversary of Puritan poet John Milton’s birth. At 198 pages long, attendees were in for a heck of a talk!!

Remember, the time of year
when the future appears
like a blank sheet of paper
a clean calendar, a new chance.
On thick white snow
You vow fresh footprints
then watch them go
with the wind’s hearty gust.
Fill your glass. Here’s tae us. Promises
made to be broken, made to last.

An important part of my job is working with churches undergoing the legacy process to preserve their archives. Today I was honored to join the South Acton Church (Massachusetts) for the final service in their beautiful 1892 structure.

A decade ago, @sarageorgini.bsky.social explored the history behind early Thanksgiving declarations that attempted to appeal to religion without privileging one denomination and to invoke civil authority without the blessing of a king.

Our next annual conference, in June 2025, will be on the topic of “Recalling the Revolution in New England”. How has the region commemorated, historicized, promulgated, and forgotten the American Revolution?
